Co-Occurring Disorders

Most alcohol and drug rehab programs offer treatment that solely deals with addiction but none of the other emotional and mental conditions that the majority of individuals with addictions also have.

Co-occurring Disorder recovery does not have to be boring.65.5% of individuals with substance abuse/dependency issues have at least one co-occurring mental disorder, and 51% of individuals with a mental disorder also have at least one co-occurring addictive disorder.

Know that if you suffer from any of these conditions, you are not alone and there is help available. People do recover and go on the lead happy, successful, fulfilling lives!

Disorders that occur in addition to addiction are depression, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and bi-polar, and varying degrees of each. Often times an addict is unaware of dual disorders (dual diagnosis) and is unknowingly self-medicating with drugs or alcohol.

Most treatment centers treat only one condition, either the addiction or the psychological issue. At OCR, the client undergoes various assessments to diagnose what the issues are and then we use an array of therapies to provide intensive addiction treatment and co-occurring disorder treatment.
